Catalog searching The moving image organization searches it's catalog for the patron or client, by appointment or on demand,
Copyright clearance services The moving image organization determines the copyright holder(s) for a particular item and obtains the necessary clearances to enable the patron or client to borrow, rent, buy, or license the material.
Distribution services The organization markets moving images to exhibitors, circulates them to theaters and/or promotes them to the public, to moving image organizations or to specific audiences.. Organizations that rent or lease films to commercial theaters are providing Distribution services, rather than Rental.
Duplication/Licensing The moving image organization copies material and sells the rights to use material under limited terms.
Rental /Loan The moving image organization gives an item for temporary use, which may require a fee, on condition that it be returned. This service does not include distribution services, which involves marketing, circulating and promoting moving images to the public, moving image organizations or specific audiences.
Programming Exhibitions or screenings of moving image items.
Public exhibition The moving image organization shows moving images to groups of people in a public exhibition space, such as a theater, museum, etc. Exhibition includes projection of films in a theater to an audience, as well as continuously running video in a gallery space.
Reference/Research services The moving image organization answers questions or does research for patrons or clients, beyond simple catalog searches.
Restoration and Preservation Damage and deterioration of moving images are mitigated by cleaning, rehousing and repairing the moving image, or by copying and transferring the moving image to the same medium or a different medium.
Sales The moving image organization sells a copy of a resource, or part of a resource, to customers or clients.
Storage Moving images are stored for the customer in a stable, climate controlled environment conducive to preservation of the moving image.
Viewing of films or videos The moving image organization provides individual or small group viewing of moving images on the premises of the organization.
